Component-level electronics repair for automotive manufacturing

We do not swap boards. We repair them. Every unit is diagnosed at component level — identifying the exact fault on the PCB, drive, or control system before any work begins. Particularly important on production lines where replacement lead times can halt output for weeks.

🔬
Component-level repair — not board swap

We use oscilloscopes, ESR meters, thermal imaging and signal tracing to find the exact faulty component — capacitors, IGBTs, MOSFETs, driver ICs, power transistors. This means we can repair equipment the OEM no longer supports, and get your line running faster than waiting months for a replacement.

Success story
Motor drive repair — automated assembly line fault diagnosed and repaired, production restored within 48 hours

An automotive manufacturer came to us with repeated stoppages on their assembly line. Motor drives controlling conveyor and transfer equipment were cutting out under load, causing unplanned stoppages and significant production delays. Each fault was costing hours of output and putting delivery schedules at risk. Our engineers carried out a detailed component-level diagnostic — identifying a failing power module in the main inverter stage, combined with degraded capacitors on the DC bus. Components were replaced, the board cleaned, and the unit tested under simulated production load conditions. The assembly line was back in operation within 48 hours. Repeated stoppages were eliminated and overall equipment uptime improved by more than 40%. The client avoided the cost and multi-week lead time of a replacement drive — and the original configuration was fully preserved.

Common questions from automotive manufacturers

What automotive equipment do you repair?
We repair motor control units, AC and DC drives, drive inverters, servo drives, battery chargers, EV charging controllers, control panels, HMI displays, PCB boards from robotic cells, PLC power supply boards, production line test and diagnostic equipment, and vehicle lift electronics. If it has a circuit board and it fails, we can diagnose and repair it.
Can you repair obsolete automotive electronics no longer available to buy?
Yes. Obsolete electronic repair is one of our core specialisms. Many automotive production lines use discontinued control boards where no replacement exists. We repair at component level — we do not need OEM support or spare boards to carry out the repair.
How long does automotive electronic repair take?
Standard turnaround is 5–10 working days from receipt at our Newcastle workshop. If production is at risk, our emergency service returns most units in 1–3 working days. Let us know the urgency when you contact us.
Do you offer a warranty on repaired automotive electronics?
Yes. All repairs carry a written warranty confirmed before work begins. Standard repairs carry a 12-month warranty. Full refurbishments carry 6–24 months depending on scope — agreed and confirmed in writing before any work starts.
Is repairing automotive electronics cheaper than buying new?
In most cases yes — significantly so. Repair typically costs 20–60% of a new replacement unit. For obsolete equipment or units on long lead times, repair is often the only cost-effective route. We provide a fixed-price quote after diagnosis — no obligation to proceed.
Do you work with automotive manufacturers outside the North East?
Yes. Whilst we are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we work with manufacturing clients across the UK. Equipment can be sent to us via courier — we provide guidance on safe packaging to ensure items arrive without damage.
