We diagnose and repair — we don't just swap boards
We work with offshore vessel operators, ROV contractors, trencher operators, and marine service companies across the UK and internationally. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we offer component-level fault finding — not just board swaps.
That means we find the actual fault — down to individual components — which gives you a higher success rate, a longer-lasting repair, and a clear report of what failed and why. Our PCB and circuit board repair service and power supply repair service support the full range of electronics within ROV and subsea systems.
Obsolete and discontinued systems are a significant part of our work. We have hands-on experience with Sub-Atlantic thrusters and pan and tilt units, Atlantic ROV platforms, ROV 1100 series, Kongsberg Simrad, and Alfa Laval systems. For the full scope of our offshore capabilities, see our offshore electronics repair service.

Fault Diagnosis
Faults we diagnose and repair
The most common failure modes we see in ROV and trencher electronics — diagnosed to component level before we quote.
Control board failure
Processor, memory, and logic faults on ROV and trencher control PCBs. Power surge damage, failed ICs, and signal integrity issues identified and repaired at component level.
Power supply failure
PSU failure and output instability on Vicor, Kongsberg, and other subsea PSU boards. Voltage regulator failure, capacitor degradation, and rectifier faults.
Thruster drive electronics
Failed drive electronics in Sub-Atlantic hydraulic, brushless DC, and AC thrusters. Motor control board failure, integral drive PCB faults, and oil-compensated system failure.
Pan & tilt unit failure
Control PCB failure, motor driver board failure, loss of positional feedback, and power supply faults inside Sub-Atlantic pan and tilt units. Repaired at component level.
Drive and motor control faults
Failed IGBTs and power modules in thruster drives. Lenze, Unidrive, UTV620, and soft starter faults — overcurrent trips, gate driver failure, and overvoltage damage.
Subsea camera electronics
Water ingress and corrosion damage to camera PCBs. Video signal loss, LED driver failure, power supply faults inside camera housings — depth-rated to 6,000m.
Communication and signal loss
Loss of communication between ROV modules, surface control units, and topside panels. Telemetry PCB faults and fieldbus interface issues.
Sensor and feedback board faults
Track motor encoder failure, pressure sensor PCBs, TSS 350 search coil boards, and oil sensor electronics diagnosed and repaired.
Obsolete board failure
Atlantic, ROV 1100, Siemens 6ES5 PLC boards, and discontinued electronics. We source compatible components and repair boards the OEM no longer supports.
Sub-Atlantic | FET
Subsea thruster electronics
We repair drive electronics, motor control boards, and integral electronic systems from Sub-Atlantic hydraulic and electric thrusters — used on work-class ROVs and cable burial vehicles.
This includes brushless DC and AC thruster drive electronics, oil-compensated systems, and units no longer supported by the OEM.
Sub-Atlantic | FET
Pan & tilt unit electronics
Pan and tilt units position subsea cameras on ROVs — and their control electronics are a common failure point. We repair the drive electronics, control PCBs, motor driver boards, and positional feedback circuitry inside Sub-Atlantic pan and tilt units.
If your pan and tilt unit has lost movement, is responding incorrectly, or the control board has failed — send it to us before you source a replacement.
Camera Electronics
Subsea camera systems
NPE has direct hands-on experience repairing electronics from subsea camera systems, including units depth-rated to 6,000 metres — power boards, video signal boards, LED drivers, and control circuitry inside the housing.

Seabed Operations
Subsea trencher electronics
Subsea trenchers bury pipelines, power cables, and fibre optic umbilicals on the seabed. The electronics inside take constant punishment from vibration, pressure, and harsh marine environments.
Offshore wind is driving demand. The rapid growth of subsea cable laying in UK waters means trencher operations are increasing. NPE is based in Newcastle upon Tyne — the same city as some of the UK's leading subsea trencher manufacturers and operators.

Every job follows the same process — no surprises, no unexpected charges, no equipment returned until confirmed working.
Receive & inspect
Logged on arrival, inspected visually for physical damage, contamination, water ingress, and signs of prior repair.
Component-level diagnosis
We test to component level to find the root cause — not just what failed, but why — before any repair work begins.
Written quotation
A written quote covering all work required. No work proceeds without your approval. If not viable, we tell you clearly.
Repair & replacement
Faulty components replaced to original specification. PCB rework, track repairs, and cleaning carried out as required.
Test & return
Functionally tested before leaving us. Full repair report provided — fault found, work done, parts replaced.
