When on-site repair is the right call

Not every repair belongs in a workshop. On-site attendance is often the faster and more practical choice when:

The equipment is too large or too integrated to remove safely

Disconnection or transportation would take longer than the repair itself

You're dealing with a critical failure and every hour of downtime costs production

🚢

The equipment is part of a larger production line or built into the facility structure

Software configuration or system parameters need to be preserved in situ

Our on-site repair process

We keep the process focused on getting you back online as fast as possible.

1

Initial discussion

Tell us what's failed, what the symptoms are, and where the equipment is located. We'll confirm whether on-site attendance is the right approach and agree a visit date — including emergency response where needed.

2

On-site attendance

Our engineer attends your site to assess and identify faults in place. We diagnose at component or system level without the need to remove equipment from your facility.

3

Repair & functional testing

We carry out the repair on-site and conduct functional testing to confirm the equipment is operating correctly before we leave. Where testing under load conditions is possible at your site, we do it.

4

Documentation & follow-up

We provide a written summary of the fault found, the work carried out, and any recommendations to prevent recurrence. All repair work carries NPE's standard warranty.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you attend our site?
For standard on-site visits we typically attend within 2–5 working days depending on location and engineer availability. For critical failures, we offer emergency attendance — contact us directly on 0800 001 6045 to discuss urgent requirements.
What areas do you cover for on-site repair?
We're based in Newcastle upon Tyne and cover the North East and Scotland. Contact us to discuss your site and arrange a visit date.
What do I need to prepare before your engineer arrives?
Ensure the equipment is accessible and that a member of your team is available to brief the engineer on the fault symptoms and recent history. If the equipment requires isolation before work begins, your site team will need to arrange this in line with your own safe systems of work.
What happens if the fault can't be fully resolved on-site?
If the repair requires workshop conditions — such as specialist rework, ultrasonic cleaning, or extended testing — we'll discuss the options with you. In many cases, the faulty board or module can be removed and taken to our Newcastle workshop while the equipment remains in place. We'll always find the fastest route to resolution.
Is on-site repair covered by your warranty?
Yes. All repair work carried out by NPE engineers — whether on-site or in our workshop — is covered by our standard repair warranty. We'll confirm the warranty terms for your specific job before work begins.
Can you repair obsolete equipment on-site?
Yes. We specialise in obsolete and legacy industrial electronics. Many of the systems our engineers attend on-site are no longer in production. Component-level diagnosis means we can often repair boards and systems where a direct replacement simply doesn't exist.
